Pascal Clement Fleurie
Appellation Contrôlée
Vineyards
The northern part of Beaujolais, or Haut-
Beaujolais contains the finer appellation of
Beaujolais-Villages and all 10 of the Crus villages
whose wines are considered so fine
that no mention of Beaujolais is required on
the label. The soils in the Haut-Beaujolais
consist of granite, which tempers the natural
high acidity of the Gamay grape to produce
softer, more rounded wines. Fleurie is
known as the “Queen of Beaujolais” as it is
said to produce the softest, most elegant and
sensual of all the Crus.
Winemaking
Perfectly ripe Gamay grapes were
hand-harvested and carefully selected
before undergoing a traditional carbonic
maceration or whole berry fermentation.
No oak was used allowing the bright fruit to
shine through.
Winemaker’s Comments
Our Fleurie is medium-bodied with fresh
floral and blossom aromas and a palate
bursting with succulent soft red fruit,
smooth, silky tannins and perfectly balanced
acidity.
It is ideal served with charcuterie, pâte,
cheeses, poultry, pork and grilled meats,
particularly lamb. It can be delicious lightly
chilled.
Our Fleurie is best drunk within 4 years of
purchase.
